UPDATE: Russia’s Kemerovo coal mine catches fire, 51 miners evacuated

MOSCOW, Jun 3 (PRIME) -- Fifty one miners out of 103 were evacuated from Russia’s Zarechnaya coal mine, which caught fire on Friday morning, a representative of the Emergency Situations Ministry’s local office told PRIME.

“At present, 51 miners were brought to the surface, evacuation continues,” he said.

A source at emergency services said earlier that 103 miners were inside the mine when a transformer substation took fire at the level of minus 100 meters.
